Our all day trip to Meteora starts from Athens and the pickup location that you have set. Your driver will wait for you at least half an hour earlier and he will help you with your luggage. Moreover you can ask for coffee and snack which will wait you at the meeting point*.
During our trip to Meteora we pass through the small towns of Thiva, Livadia and the famous village of Arachova and Delphoi . You will travel with English speaking and well trained driver along the highway road to the mountain of Parnassos. We can stop at any place for photos.
Our tour starts from the beautiful city of Trikala, where we can walk along the Litheos River and visit the majestic Byzantine Castle, built by emperor Justinian onto the acropolis of ancient Trikke in the 6th century AD.
Then we take our road to Kalabaka. You will be impressed as we head towards the city, by the impressive, huge rocks that look like they fell from the sky.
We will go up in the alley to the beautiful village of Kastraki, which is built close to the rocks, as we head towards the monasteries.
The impressive rocks in Meteora have a long history. A scientific explanation about this unique geological phenomenon mentions that in antiquity entire regions were covered by sea and as the water levels reduced these impressive rocks were revealed.
In the afternoon you can enjoy a traditional Greek meal at a traditional Greek tavern. Then a short walk around the city and then we start our trip back to Athens.
